New Stylistic Formation of Urdu Fiction
(In the Sixties and Seventies)

Fiction is undoubtedly the most popular genre of Urdu prose. This genre has developed rapidly in a short period of time. This article highlights the important stylistic aspects of Urdu fiction in general and, in particular, sheds detailed light on the new stylistic formation of Urdu fiction in the sixties and seventies and the impact of global and domestic political and social conditions and literary movements in its background. A brief commentary has also been made on the short story writers involved in the formation of this new style, especially Intizar Hussain, in the light of one of his short stories.
