Comparative Analysis of Obitvary Writing of Professor Muhammad Aslam and Dr۔ Muhammad Munir Ahmed Slatch

Abstract

This study presents a comparative analysis of obituary writing by two prominent Pakistani writers, Professor Muhammad Aslam and Dr. Muhammad Munir Ahmad Slatch. The primary objective of the study is to examine their contributions in terms of style of expression, realism, research and critical approach, narrative technique, research standards, and international literary standards. The research reveals that Professor Muhammad Aslam played a foundational role in strengthening the genre of obituary writing in Pakistan after independence. Through his simple, balanced, and dignified style, he provided this genre with scholarly value and literary respectability. On the other hand, Dr. Muhammad Munir Ahmad Slatch introduced new dimensions to obituary writing through modern research principles, critical insight, and intellectual depth. His writings are marked by authenticity, analytical approach, and realism. The study concludes that both writers made remarkable contributions to the promotion and development of obituary writing and helped establish it as a significant literary and research-oriented genre in Pakistan. Their works also serve as valuable scholarly resources for future researchers and writers.
