Abstract

Ghafer Shahzad is a prominent contemporary short story writer. His fiction presents a broad reflection of civilization and culture. By employing his intellectual insight and creative imagination, he incorporates historical and cultural events into his narratives with remarkable depth. He excels in portraying past civilizations and providing valuable knowledge about their cultural heritage. Cultural elements occupy a central place in his short stories. His stories reflect Pakistani society, particularly the culture of Punjab, its religious traditions, family system, and human values. For Ghafer Shahzad, culture is not confined to customs and traditions alone; rather, it encompasses ways of thinking, moral principles, and patterns of human behavior. His fiction offers a profound exploration of Pakistani civilization, culture, and social values. By maintaining a balance between tradition and modernity, he emphasizes the importance of preserving human relationships, ethical values, and cultural identity.
