Abstract

Novel is a mirror of society. It is not possible for the creator of any other genre to depict the society, the story of the rise and fall of social values, the changes taking place at the social level and their impact on the society in the way a novelist does. A novelist being a part of the society and observing the society, sometimes his real experiences are also made a part of the novel. It is usually found in those novelists who are making the contemporary historical and social scenario a part of the novel.Dr Tahira Iqbal has presented different aspects of social and cultural life of Punjab in her novels. In this article , efforts is made to compare the social elements in her both novels; Giran and Neeli Bar.
