Revival of Culture in the Travelogues of Mustansar Hussain Tarar (In the Context of Northern Areas Travelogues)

Abstract

This study looks at the revival of culture in the travelogues of Mustansar Hussain Tarar, focusing on the northern areas of Pakistan. Tarar’s writings show how human civilization has grown alongside the unique culture and history of these regions. His travel stories explore old traditions, showing a deep link between geography and how people live. The research highlights how the environment shapes cultural practices, especially seen in the five major festivals of the Ishkoman Valley. These festivals, from planting seeds to preparing for winter, show how people adapt to nature and work together as a community. Tarar’s keen insights encourage a fresh look at the cultural importance of northern Pakistan and call attention to its historical treasures. This study helps explain how local traditions keep their identity while connecting with broader civilizations. It not only honors the cultural wealth of these areas but also invites more research into Pakistan's rich and ancient heritage. By recording these traditions, Tarar’s works act as a bridge between cultures and help preserve them for the future.
